E3 Expectations - What Video Games Are You Looking Forward To?

The Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) is the biggest resource for upcoming gaming announcements and it will be taking place this upcoming week, June 5-7. E3 this year has some really great announcements that I am looking forward to and some rumors that I am hoping to be true.

The major announcement that I am looking forward to is the announcement of the Nintendo WiiU. This console was very briefly covered at last years E3 convention and it left a lot of questions unanswered. It will have HD graphics and features a new kind of controller we have never seen before. There will be one (as of now) controller which will have a screen within it very similar to a tablet.

Nintendo WiiUThis controller is the source of many questions that will hopefully be answered this upcoming week. How much will it cost? What features will be enabled on the controllers' screen? Why only one of these controllers per system? Hopefully Nintendo will cover all of these questions.

The main question I have for Nintendo about the new WiiU is this: Will Nintendo finally focus more of it's attention on hard core gamers? Some of my favorite games this generation were on the Nintendo Wii, but overall I did not buy many games for the system. I'm hoping that Nintendo will demonstrate that this new console will not only compete with Xbox 360 and PS3 graphics, but hopefully surpass them.

There are a ton of games I am looking forward to seeing and hearing news on. I could write about these all day, but just let me go over a few of them briefly.

One game I am very excited to see some news on is Halo 4. I was very disappointed with Halo Reach but absolutely loved Halo 3. Now that 343 Studios is in charge of the series, I'm very eager to see what changes they have made and how they plan to recover from Halo Reach.

Quantic Dream (Heavy Rain) is rumoured to be working on a project called fiv5. Registered domain names and trademarks have been made Sony and Quantic Dream. I recently saw the tech demo they released title KARA and it was a pretty powerful scene demonstrated on the PS3 involving the creation of a life like android with though and emotions. You can view that demo here.

Tomb Raider 2012 E3

Every E3 I have some wild expectation of a game to be announced that never is and I always get my hopes crushed. That game this year is Eternal Darkness 2. Dennis Dyack (founder and president of silicon knights) apparently wrote on twitter:

"We're working on an IP that's our most requested and we're really excited about that."

I know it's a MAJOR stretch, but if it happens I will be ecstatic.

Here a just a few of the games I am looking forward to hearing news about at this years E3 convention.

  • Borderlands 2

  • The Last Guardian

  • Resident Evil 6

  • Metal Gear Rising

  • Double Dragon Neon

  • Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch

  • Dark Souls (coming to PC and DLC)

  • Super Mario WiiU

  • Tomb Raider

  • Assassin's Creed III

  • Dishonored

  • Last of Us

What games are you looking forward to?

Will Nintendo be able to display the WiiU's potential?

Will Microsoft or Sony announce a new console?

We will know the answers to all of these questions in just one week! Be sure to listen to Hit Reset Radio episode 3 which will be recorded just after the expo with discussion about everything covered during the convention.
